I went online looking for a better price for a book I want which hasn't come out in paperback yet. We all know about the mark-up in the stores for anything and everything we buy, so I figured I should be able to find what I wanted at a price better than the $24.99 Borders price. So on 7-30-09, I discovered DiscountBookSales.com and they had the very book for $9.76 after a $5.00 'discount' plus $3.99 S&H. Total price $13.76. It was a bargain...yeah RIGHT! The next day I got an email confirming my order, the total cost and stating that it had been shipped, Yipee! I check my bank account today and find 2 charges on 8-3-09 to my account from DBS, one for $13.76 and another for $19.95. So I call customer service and am informed that I signed up for a 3 day membership trail in a 'savings club', which was what 'entitled' me to that $5.00 discount...HUM...say again? I threw a royal fit. I asked to speak to a manager, uh, the manager is busy on another line...NO DOUBT! I offered to pay the $5.00 discount if they would kindly refund my $19.95, too late honey, your 3 day trail membership has expired. NICE. I just HATE gettin bent over so I called my bank and they are working on getting a refund and because I am SO mad about this underhanded, misleading BS, I contacted the Better Business Bureau at WWW.BBB.org and filed a complaint. Just so you all know...BEWARE of purchasing books online at DiscountBookSale.com. A book that would have cost $26.86 with tax, at this point has cost me $33.70. What a bunch of CRAP!!! |
